Father was a sporting goods store proprietor in Cleveland World War II: Ohio University Navy ROTC student who entered flight training but was discovered to be color blind and instead was assigned as Radio Man 3rd Class on TBM light bombers with Torpedo Squadrons VT-98 and VT-99 aboard aircraft carrier U.S.S.
