Performed on stage in high school and received leading roles in theatrical productions with the Cedar Rapids Community Players Enrolled at University of Iowa as a pre law student on a basketball scholarship Tried to pursue acting at University but the school offered no drama program so DeFore moves to California and becomes a regular at the Pasadena Playhouse Discovered by Hollywood producer who casts him in weekly television variety drama “The Bigelow Theatre” TV serials and movies: “The Bigelow Theatre,” 1950-51 “Ozzie and Harriet” 1952-57 “Hazel” 1965 First cinematic movie: “Reunion” 1936
